ABRAZAR’s Westminster and Midway City Community Centers provide hot, home delivered meals to low income senior citizens. The seniors served are those living alone, too old, frail, or sick to prepare adequate meals. The Senior Citizen Nutrition Program serves hot, well balanced meals five days a week in congregate dining centers. The meals are served at the Westminster Community Center. Meals are served on a first come, first served basis. The meals are designed to include one-third of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA). Menus typically include an entree, two vegetables, bread, desert, milk, and juice. The meals are prepared and served hot from our stainless steel commercial kitchen. For senior on restricted diets, the meals are low fat, low sodium, and low in sugar. Complex carbohydrates are stressed. Meals are also delivered to “Shut-ins” senior who are too ill or incapacitated to come to one of the sites.

This is a free meal lunch program. Seniors are asked to contribute $1.00 – $1.25 per congregate or homebound meal. Non-seniors are required to pay a guest fee.

Through food rescue, culinary training and a community feeding program, Bracken’s Kitchen is committed to rescuing, re-purposing and restoring both food and lives. A 501(c)(3) organization based in Orange County California, Bracken’s Kitchen believes strongly in the power of food and its impact on a person’s life. Feeding people isn’t the same as nourishing them and Bracken’s Kitchen strives to nourish more than just the body, but a persons very spirit. Utilizing a Food Truck, tables, chairs, and an upbeat environment, the Kitchen provides meals in a manner that echoes a fun to deliver meals with dignity. Offering a hand up and not a hand out is one of Bracken’s bigger goals.

The Cantlay Food Distribution Center in coordination with Catholic Charities of Orange County provides food to individuals and families and other necessities such as diapers for children ages (0-5). Services aim to provide food assistance and nutrition education to those in need through programs such as Cantlay Food Distribution Center and Health & Wellness Services. They also offer free nutrition classes and CalFresh Healthy Living (Formerly known as SNAP-Ed) assistance.

Food Distribution at The Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living (MHSCHL), in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, offers a drive-thru food and produce distribution on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. (Dates are subject to change depending on holiday closures). Allotment of food is based on family size and is open to community. To serve more families in need, registrants will only be able to participate once a month. • The Giving Farm is a farm-to-food bank program that works to promote student and community engagement in the California agricultural industry. Located at Westminster High School, students and volunteers are provided the unique opportunity to learn about urban agriculture and the connection to local food networks, while also gaining valuable nutrition education.The program expects to deliver over 200,000 pounds of produce annually to OC Food Bank which provides healthy, fresh, and local options to the low-income communities. • Farm 2 Family Ships surplus produce directly from the fields to the food bank, where it is distributed though the OC Food Bank network of schools, senior centers, and other community venues.
• Nutrition Education administers a Produce Prescription program, and provides recipes to the Senior Food Box program participants.

Second Harvest provides food to almost 300 Orange County nonprofits, houses of worship, schools, colleges and universities, senior centers, etc. who, in turn, distribute food free of charge to individuals in need in their communities. There are several ways to find a food distribution near you.

These food distribution sites will ask for the number of total individuals in your household receiving the food as well as number of children and seniors. A site may ask you to complete a form for their own internal records but that is optional.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) are sites that distribute food as part of the federal program and will ask for your name, county of residence, household count and whether this is the first time getting TEFAP food this month. Share Ourselves believes in the importance of good nutrition as a key ingredient for optimal health. The food pantry services are designed to provide essential sustenance to you and your family, promoting health through access to nutritious food options. Open Monday to Friday form 8:00 Am to 4:30 PM the Food Pantry offers supplemental grocery bags filled with fresh produce, a protein source, bread, and canned or dry goods. If you do not have access to a kitchen, Share Ourselves offers ready-to-eat food bags containing sandwiches, fruit, a beverage, and snacks, ensuring your nutrition needs are met.

Someone Cares Soup Kitchen services include comprehensive hunger relief programs by providing access to nutritious food, we can help minimize food insecurity and support families in need. The organization arranges a monthly farmers market, weekend food box distributions, and multiple offsite distributions for families, seniors, veterans, children, and others in need. Someone Cares is deeply rooted in coastal Orange County, utilizing an extensive network of relationships and professional connections to feed hungry people and create opportunities to directly engage with communities in need of food resources, medical attention, jobs training, housing resources, and more. Lunch is served Monday to Friday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. On weekends, breakfast is served from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
